What We Are Reading

I try to read to the boys together and separately each day. Some days it might just be one book at bedtime other days it seems like and endless parade of funny animals, cheeky children, naughty dogs and dinosaurs. Just when I think I can prise myself up off the floor another is flung at me with plead “Can you read this to me?” this is definitely not a complaint. I love that my boys love books and I hope that I can foster this love for them always.

Today I thought I might share some of the books we are enjoying at the moment.

Dinosaur Vs Bedtime by Bob Shea

Dino’s day is a battle between him and the slide, a pile of leaves, spaghetti and talking grown up all of which he comes out victorious. However is he a match for bedtime?

Why we love it: the boys love to roar along. I love the retro inspired illustrations.

I Went Walking bye Sue Machin  Illustrated by Julie Vivas

A little boy takes a stroll through a farm, spying differnt animals along the way until he his being followed by a whole menagerie.

Why we love it: Super simple text and beautiful illustration by Julie Vivas. Sam wants it read to him constantly and I have often seen him sit by himself and turn the pages and make the animal noises.

All Through the Year by Jane Godwin Illustrations by  Anna Walker

A year in the life of a family, month by month, season by season.

Why we love it: This is an Australian book so the months and seasons are as we know it, Christmas is in summer, Easter in autumn. Each month is beautifully illustrated by Anna and the story is lovely . Every page speaks of the Australia I know. I just adore this book
